The popularly known skin condition gooseflesh is referred to in medicine by several terms: follicular keratosis, pilar keratosis, follicular hyperkeratosis. Gooseflesh is a skin disease that is expressed by spots on the skin in the form of rough, small-sized "pimples" located on the arms, cheeks, thighs, legs, buttocks, abdomen, etc. It looks like acne, especially if the small "pimples" become inflamed, cracked, dry and flaky.

The origin of this condition is simple: dead cells of the stratum corneum become clogged in the hair follicles. As a result, the hair cannot break through these plugs. The follicle expands, and formations in the form of hard conical "pimples" appear on the surface of the skin.

Gooseflesh most often appears in the winter time. It often affects overweight and obese women, adolescents during puberty, as well as pregnant women or after the birth of a child. The disease is not contagious. It may one day simply disappear from the surface of the skin. There is no treatment other than aromatherapy and folk remedies.

Gooseflesh: basic principles of treatment

Before, proceed to the treatment, it is necessary to understand what its basic principles are. It is simple - to clear the hair follicles from the "plugs". There is only one treatment that can do this, and that is skin exfoliation. It is very important, after any exfoliating procedures, to moisturize the skin, as well as protect it from the sun.
It is also necessary to take care that the skin is constantly moisturized. It is not bad to use scrubs, but not more than 3 times a week. It is important to make sure that the scrubs are soft and do not traumatize the skin.

You should also pay attention to drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. In your diet, avoid fast foods and other foods that contain margarine and other hydrogenated fats. Eat sea fish. Avoid very dry environments.

However, it is one of the best exfoliating agents. Therefore, when using it, you should dilute the glycolic peel with water and measure the pH with a special litmus paper. The solution should have a pH of at least 3.5.

It is not bad to use as exfoliators also lactic acid, which is found in sour milk products such as kefir, sour milk, yogurt. But it is best to use curd whey. You can also squeeze lemon juice, but it is not as safe as glycolytic and lactic acid.
