You will be surprised, but the night vision sight owes its existence to Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov. It was him who first came up with the brilliant idea to create a device "to condense light". He called his invention "night vision tube". And it was in 1758. In his article "The Physical Problem of the Night Vision Tube", describing this device, he wrote that it serves to "distinguish at night rocks and ships". That's it and no other way!
